This video walks you through how you can DIY upgrade or renovate your mudroom or drop zone area (or give you some good ideas). I added extra built-in storage using unfinished cabinets, and tricked out the existing shelving with beadboard, trim, quarter round, baseboard, and crown moulding. Divided the shoe area into 8 separate areas (originally 2) with custom baskets to fit. Primed and painted everything using high quality stain blocking primer and 3 coats of high quality kitchen cabinet paint. Resurfaced the bench using dark stain (custom browned and lightened) and poly sealant. Voila! An easy DIY upgrade!
