The charging port of my iPhone was filthy. Despite multiple cleanings using a brush and air, it still would not make contact or connect with the cord when plugged in. For this (and other) reasons, I upgraded phones and bought these plugs (with brush) that seal up the port when I'm not charging it. Love them! Keeps dirt, lint, and dust out. Highly recommended.
