Cement backerboard can be difficult to cut cleanly, efficiently, and safely. This videos shows you a few approaches when (a) cutting holes for shower valve or arm, (b) straight lines close the the edge (when you do not have leverage to score and snap), and (c) straight lines away from edges (when you do have leverage to score and snap). Careful: do NOT cut with a saw unless you have a respirator, are outdoors, and have a forced air evacuation system in place (silica dust is VERY dangerous). Hope this helps!
