This video demos how you can easily DIY cut and join an outside corner crown moulding. Instructions: build up a "backing" using scrap wood. Then, measure length of moulding to edge and mark with pencil, then sketch a "reference line" to help you remember the direction the blade needs to go once you take the moulding out to the miter saw. Once on the miter saw, flip it to make sure the BOTTOM of the moulding is pointed away from you, while the TOP is toward you. Swing the saw 45 degrees to right or left to align with your reference line you drew. Voila! Perfect cut. Secure moulding first with center brad nail allowing play for you to align the corners. Then, secure firmly placing brad nails through all ends.
