This video provides step-by-step instructions and shows you how I DIY installed a simple rain gutter and downspout to my home's porch. I prefer white vinyl as opposed to aluminum because it looks great, is durable, is affordable, and is easy to install / work with. Installation is straightforward, just be sure to slope it correctly. How much slope does the gutter need? I recommend 1/4 to 1/2 inch every 10 feet. I was a bit more aggressive since my porch install site is only visible from back of our home (you don't want it to look crooked, but you need water to drain effectively).
