🍒 How to Frame a Custom Shower Niche Shelf Before You Tile➔ Easy DIY Project!

This video shows you how you can frame out and make a simple shower niche / customized shelf. Figure out your finished shelf line (42" off top of shower base), then measure down the sum of the following: 1.5" for 2x4, 1/2" or .42" for 1/2" Hardiebacker, 1/8" for tile, plus 1/8" for "extra" like mortar/thinset under tile. This is your cut line. Do this again for your top finished shelf and side finished walls. Used a multitool to cut the studs at cut lines. Installed new 2x4s" (sloped down for bottom shelf) using 2.5" deck screws. Squared and plumbed, and voila!
