🍒 How to Prep, Level, & Install Shower Pan Base ➔Step 5 (DIY Video Series: Tile a Bathroom Shower)

How do you install a fiberglass shower pan? This video shows the fifth step in my shower renovation project: leveling and setting the shower base into mortar. I address how I prepped the subfloor, carefully remove the shower arm, relocate the brass shower elbow, add backing for a future shower door, frame out our shower niche shelf, leveling/draining issues, install & DIY water test a brass drain, how to drill and shim the shower pan to the studs, and how to set the shower base in mortar. I did use sheets of 6 mil poly over the subfloor to prevent moisture from being pulled into wood subfloor over time, as well as over the mortar to prevent it from sticking to the shower base in the event I mess it up (good idea??). Result: a SOLID shower base that works! Enjoy!
